Youth Soloist Competition 2026
Win a $2000 Scholarship and the opportunity to perform a solo with the Kalamazoo Concert Band
In 1980 the Kalamazoo Concert Band established a scholarship competition for outstanding high school wind and percussion instrumentalists.
High school wind and percussion players throughout Michigan are invited to compete for a $2,000 scholarship and the opportunity to appear as a Guest Soloist with the Kalamazoo Concert Band at it’s spring concert.
Application due date is Monday, January 12, 2026.
Competition date is Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Dalton Center of Western Michigan University.
Must attend rehearsals on Thursdays April 2nd & April 9th, 2026 at Kalamazoo Christian High School, and April 16th, 2026 at Chenery Auditorium.
Concert date is April 18, 2026, at Chenery Auditorium.
The KCB invites eligible students to apply for this unique opportunity. If you are a music educator, please consider recommending someone. The color flyer can be posted at your school or studio as appropriate.
