The Four Tones

The Four Tones is a distinguished trombone quartet comprised of members from the Kalamazoo Concert Band’s trombone section. Formed to serve as a small ensemble representation of the KCB, The Four Tones are dedicated to sharing their passion for music with a broad range of audiences. The group performs a wide repertoire encompassing various musical styles, and they regularly entertain at community events, schools, and churches throughout the region.

The quartet features four accomplished trombonists: Martin Obed, Barry Heywood, Larry Daugherty, and Brian Shetterly. Collectively, these musicians bring over 250 years of playing experience to the ensemble, ensuring a high level of artistry and professionalism in each performance.

All members of The Four Tones are former music educators who find joy in rehearsing and performing together, especially reaching out to school music programs. Their collaboration is not only a personal fulfillment but is also viewed as an important opportunity to represent the Kalamazoo Concert Band and advocate for instrumental music in the community.

If you are interested in hiring The Four Tones to perform at your event, or would like more information about the ensemble, please contact us. We look forward to sharing our love of music and making your occasion memorable.
